At least once a year a group of Living Compassion staff travels to Africa

At least once a year a group of Living Compassion staff travels to Africa to take the next steps in the Africa Vulnerable Children Project. It is always a life-changing experience.

Experiencing the African culture has transformed us. Even in the face of extremely difficult circumstances, the people we encounter have a joy and enthusiasm for life that is truly inspiring.

On these trips we celebrate the things that have been accomplished since our previous trip and hold meetings to put the next phase of the projects in place.

June/July 2007

This trip saw the construction of the Community Center well underway and the plans laid for eventually bringing clean water to Kantolomba, including testing the well bore hole to test the capacity of the well. There was also a micro-finance meeting that resulted in ideas for various co-operatives. And the local power company finished the work to bring electricity to the property.

April 2007

The top priority for this trip was drilling the first well in Kantolomba and expanding the food program. Work was also begun to bring electricity to the property. Blueprints and a contract for the community center construction were completed.

January 2007

We had an exciting agenda on this trip: planning the well, meeting with potential contractors to lay out the architectural plans for the Kantolomba Community and Medical Center, completing the filing for our NGO status, and much more.
