Recently, while eating a particularly satisfying salad, it struck me how important it is to have in one's life combinations that work. For example, the winning combination of meditation, Recording and Listening, and Sangha participation makes for an extraordinarily happy life. The combination of physical activity, healthy eating, and a focus on what is actually so (as opposed to a constant stream of negative "news") makes for health and well-being. Having a balance of silence, solitude, and kind interaction contributes to pleasing relationships.
We can experiment with finding combinations that work in our lives and in our eating. Here are two salad recipes, combinations that we enjoy at the Monastery.
