Practicing constant devotion by participating with Sangha in the daily radio shows, “Seeing with the Eyes of Love” and “Project Joy,” has brought a greater awareness of how compassionate our Practice is.
- Compassionate in that we can bring anything into Practice. Whatever is going on for us, we have an opportunity to bring it into Practice, to be heard, to look at it and to be guided to see more clearly what is so.
- Compassionate in that Practice is offered in so many forms, in so many ways and times that it fits somewhere into our daily lives. Wherever we are in our day we can be practicing. We’re “walking in the mist until we are soaked through.”
- Compassionate in the way Practice is modeled for us by the Guide, monks and stewards who willingly show up many times each day. When we recognize their commitment, we can choose to participate.
- Compassionate in the way Practice guides us to look at everything. The smallest minutiae or the broadest world issues all fit into the way we practice. We are informed because we use everything to see how we cause ourselves to suffer. Everything we experience is for us.
- Compassionate companionship through recording and listening connects us to Life’s guidance.
The kindness, generosity and clarity with which Practice is offered, the inclusiveness of the way we practice together, and the way in which nothing is outside of Practice constitute the process of compassion. Bringing the process of compassion here, to this being, is a result of “walking through the mist” of our compassionate Practice. It is the feeling of being gently held and accepted in the absolute truth that there is nothing wrong. Making the movement to compassion, to choosing presence for this being, is how we are transformed, moment by moment. When we choose compassion for this being we choose compassion for all beings.
Just as a flower gives out its fragrance to whomsoever approaches or uses it, so love from within us radiates towards everybody and manifests as spontaneous service.
