For many years, I have wanted to begin each day just being - not doing, not planning, not talking - time being intimate with life. With the help of coaching and retreats, I have been able, for a few months now, to have these magical times, first thing in the morning. Often I sit by a small pond, gently focusing on my breath while listening to sweet recordings. Sometimes I take watercolors and paint freely, playfully, uncensored - as an expression of this magical time being with life.
Recently, one afternoon by the pond, I sat very, very still while the life around me was vibrantly busy and alive. A tiny hummingbird flew enthusiastically from flower to flower, seeming to be thoroughly enjoying herself. Given my stillness, the frogs reappeared and were floating effortlessly on the pond, occasionally looking up at me. Birds sang and butterflies flew. Magic surrounded me. I was clearly a part of all that is.
Mentoring and allowing young parts of myself to be young and playful, creating safe times and spaces for them has been key. Practice supports have helped so much in this mentoring. These little ones are so delighted to have this time to be curious, full of wonder and with presence. They truly enjoy being with whatever is in the moment. It's a very precious, magical time, time that is expanding beyond the morning.
