In this introductory retreat, learn the five tools essential to awareness practice.

Inside each of us is a "persistent voice of discontent." It is constantly critical of life, the world, and almost everything we say and do. As children, in order to survive, we learned to listen to this voice and believe what it says.

As adults, most of us still listen to this cruel, punishing, self-hating voice, and we still believe it. But none of what it said was ever true…and it still isn't! If we are willing, we can tell self-hate goodbye and never have it torture us again.

This work is challenging, joyous, and compassionate—compassionate toward yourself and everyone you will ever know.

We will spend eight days looking directly at how we reject and punish ourselves and discovering how to let that go. Through exercises and group discussion, we will gain a clearer perspective on how we live their lives and on how to find compassion for ourselves and others.

This retreat is facilitated by the monks.

application process

• Fill the application before the deadline.
• Pay the registration pledge.
• Your application will be reviewed. You will be contacted for a phone interview with a facilitator.
• Your place in the retreat will be confirmed two weeks after your application.
• Your confirmation will contain all the details you need to visit the Monastery, what to bring, what not to bring, directions if you are driving, etc.
• You will be notified and your registration pledge refunded should your place not be confirmed.

registration pledge

The registration pledge covers 3 delicious vegetarian meals a day and 7 nights' accommodation. If you require transport to the Monastery, there is an additional $100 cost.

cancellation policy

• You receive a full refund minus a $75 application fee if you cancel 5 or more weeks before the retreat starts.
• You receive half of the registration pledge minus a $75 application fee if you cancel between 3 to 5 weeks before the retreat starts.
• Your forfeit your registration pledge if you cancel less than three weeks before the retreat starts.
