Usually, when I hear of someone trying to make bigger and bigger profits, I project greed. However, when I asked Theresa what the cooperative plans to do with the profits they earned from the bags and skirts we ordered on our recent visit to Zambia, I was thrilled when she told me, “We have decided to wait and see how we can do something with the money to make more profits.” This attitude of mind underlines a point Cheri made on the radio show after the Good News Update the day I came back from Kantolomba. She said she feels like we have hit “Wednesday” in Kantolomba, referring to a phenomenon on week-long retreats where Wednesday is a powerful time when the seeds of transformation really take root and begin to sprout. Imagine a group of people who, just 6 or 7 years ago, could not feed their families and were watching their children die at an alarming rate. The lived in a conatant state of emergency. Now they are able make the decision to set aside potential money in their pockets in favor of looking long term. It is Wednesday in Kantolomba, indeed.
It re-inspires me at this time of the Bridge Walk season to do all we can to show our full support for our colleagues, our family, in Kantolomba at this very critical, exciting time in the project.
Gasshō,
