Yes, and perhaps the second most strongly enforced of all taboos is the one against exploring one’s sexuality. We find ourselves willing to investigate killing, stealing, lying, anger, avarice, pride, and slander. But the third prohibitive precept has historically evoked a curious reluctance to an eyes-wide-open, conscious, compassionate investigation...until we broached the topic of sexuality in the yearlong retreat and discovered how ready we are as a Sangha to have a conversation about sexuality and suffering.
