International Day of No Self-Hate Assignment

Happy International Day of No Self-Hate

Dear Human,

It has been a year since The Surgery, the removal of the Inner Critic. This is a reminder that you are due for your annual checkup. If you missed your surgical appointment last year or need a reminder, please visit the doctor’s original orders below.

The annual checkup is a remote procedure, performed in your own home. There are a number of techniques patients have reported as highly effective. Please experiment and find what works best in your case.

Step 1: Plan a time that works best for you to have at least 20 minutes of quiet, uninterrupted time.
Step 2: Choose one, or both, of these techniques and/or create your own:

A. You are the physician checking in with the patient on her/his experience. Turn on the recorder and interview the patient:

  • How is it going?
  • What have been the benefits of the procedure?
  • Have there been flashes of “phantom self-hate”?
  • Do you notice any patterns of when these flashes are likely to occur?
  • Are there ways we can offer additional support?
  • Would you like to consider titrating up on any/all of the following prescriptions:  Unconditional Love, Kindness, Acceptance, Compassion?
  • What procedures would you like to follow to achieve that?

B. You are the host of a podcast reaching every household on the globe. Interview one of the rare, fortunate people who has had The Surgery. Ask her/him to describe for you the experience of living without self-hate. Questions you might want to ask:

  • Ask her/him to describe the experience of living without self-hate.
  • What does that feel like? What is the impact on your life?
  • How does it impact interactions with those around you?
  • Would you recommend The Surgery to others?
  • What world do you see if each of us had The Surgery performed?
  • What else would you like this worldwide group of listeners to know?

Step 3: Our wish is for everyone to benefit from this procedure. To that end, please assist by calling in to a special post-Surgery episode of Open Air on Sunday, April 20, at 10:00 am PDT to tell us about your experience. (Call-in information is the same as for the regular Tuesday Open Air shows.)

One final note
Studies have found that patients who practice “4.18” report stellar outcomes post The Surgery. Stopping at 4:18 p.m. each day to remember that you are living a glorious life beyond self-hate is the practice. Some use a recording to assist. Some patients tell us they even take the 4.18 practice a step further and perform a checkup procedure on the 18th of each month.

We look forward to reviewing your checkup results on Sunday.

Doctor’s Orders: April 18, 2024

In honor of the International Day of No Self-Hate, you too have had your Inner Critic surgically removed.

You no longer have the ability to:
Feel bad
Think that there is something wrong with you
See yourself as less than
Imagine you are not enough
Dislike some aspect of yourself
Assess whether you’re spending your day/time/life the way you “should” be
See things that happen as “mistakes”
Critique, judge, regret….

Between now and next Tuesday, pay attention to what it’s like to have NO INNER CRITIC! Then call in to Open Air on Tuesday, April 23, at 5:00pm, PDT and report on what you see.

A word from the Surgeon! It is possible for flashes of “phantom self-hate” to appear as you heal from The Surgery.  Your doctor’s Rx: If you notice any form of self-hate, just repeat to yourself, “That is not real!”
